In addition to the actual monthly or annual costs, be sure to also look at the general cost of living for the area, including food, utilities, and any additional necessary services.

4. Are there interesting activities or recreational opportunities available in the area?

While the actual retirement home community should be the initial focus of your research, you will also want to determine if there are additional activities and opportunities for you to engage in recreational or cultural interests in the area, such as museums, art galleries, concert halls, or sporting complexes. 

5. Does the community offer safety and security? 

One of the most important factors to consider is whether the retirement home community you are considering offers a good record of safety and security for the residents who live there. To learn more, interested seniors can schedule a time to meet with community representatives, tour the community grounds and units, and chat with other seniors who are currently living there.
